Nico Pante is an artist from “Vancouver” and a founding member of Bleed Through Theatre. He loves creating and telling enrapturing stories. Interested in the absurd and experimental his work takes form as postdramatic, clown, and devised performance. Anti-oppressive practices ground his work. Performance is exciting and essential as it has immense connective and transformative possibilities.

Nico Pante

Being born and raised in Vancouver, I have tirelessly pursued theatre training and deepening of my craft within our robust arts community. Since childhood I have learned with artists from Bard on the Beach, Carousel Theatre, Arts Umbrella, and many more. I am a recent graduate of the BFA in Acting program at the University of British Columbia. With my small cohort I trained in a variety of skills from devising and classical scenework to contact improvisation dance — and more. I have been a storyteller since a young age and my passion for weaving rich tapestries of character and circumstance has only grown.

I’m a deeply curious and eager person by nature; I am always growing new skills and interests. Currently, my focus is on devising and writing new performance works. Stories that entwine trans and queer experiences with absurd and fantastical circumstances are particularly on my mind at the moment.

In addition to performance, I have a great love for tactile media. I am an avid knitter, crocheter, and sculpture-builder. Somatically-informed practice is vital to my artistry; engaging with people through touch and sensation is a grounding focus to my works.

I am currently based out of the stolen and occupied lands of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) nations.
